I don’t know about you, but I love seeing the deer creep out of the woods and into my yard that first chilly morning in the fall. Usually I’ll see them in groups of 3 or 4; never just a single deer and they walk so carefully and majestically across the lawn. What I don’t love is the damage they cause to the plants and shrubs I have planted and care for. I would like to be able to enjoy seeing the deer but also prevent them from destroying all the work I put into having a beautiful yard. 

Fortunately, there are a wide array of products on the market designed just for these pesky friends of ours. Additionally, most products are organic and safe for pets and humans alike.

How to stop the Deer

Deer Stopper – This liquid deer repellent can be used on all flowers, shrubs, forest and fruit trees to prevent browsing and rubbing damage from deer, moose, and elk. It can be used by organic growers and is applied every 30 days regardless of weather and watering.

Bobbex Deer Repellent Concentrate – A unique foliar spray that lasts two months and will not wash off, Bobbex Deer Repellent repels the animals by taste and odor. It can be applied directly to all types of plants including ornamentals and most edible vegetables. It cannot be used on most edible leaves and herbs, or on rough skinned berries (e.g. raspberries and strawberries).

Shake-Away Deer Powder – This product creates the illusion that predators are present in your lawn or garden. Shake-Away is powdered predator urine that does not wash away in the rain, does not evaporate or freeze and will not damage plants.

Liquid Fence Deer & Rabbit Repellent – An odor-based product that lasts about a month when rainfall is less than 1 inch per week.

Deer Netting – Deer fencing is a safe, humane alternative to wire fencing. It discourages deer and small animals from destroying gardens and other valuable landscape plant material and can be reused season after season.

Watching your hard work go into an animal’s mouth can ruin a day. They aren’t trying to ruin your day, they are acting on instinct. Your effort and investment need to be protected because animals will do what they want and eat whatever they may be able to find.
